I've been taking a look at excess death in Scotland. There is a lot of pain in these statistics which follow. What jumps out is that we have lots of excess deaths of all causes except respiratory & only hospital settings have become less deadly in 2020.

(Disclaimer: I use 'Waves' term despite not believing in waves for respiratory viruses, just for convenience and shorthand. I know it's irritating.)

We see a significant elevation in mortality in Wave 2, now plateauing. In Wave 1, excess deaths greater than covid deaths because other cause deaths were elevated, but this is not happening in Wave 2. Seems strange. But covid deaths = excess in number
2/

Where are excess deaths happening? Wave 1: care homes overwhelmingly, then homes, then hospitals. Wave 2: homes then hospitals then care homes.... but most deaths at home in Wave 2. Are these *covid* deaths at home?
3/

Covid deaths in both waves have occurred overwhelmingly in hospitals and care homes. So the excess death we see in Wave 2 is not due to Covid. Nor is the excess in the home throughout the year due to Covid.
4/

Elevated in the home (especially in Wave 1) and in deficit in other settings throughout the year. These are contributing to excess death at home in Wave 2.
5/

These were elevated in Wave 1 but in deficit in Wave 2 overall. Excess deaths of this cause were very high in care homes during Wave 1 but not seeing same now. These contributing to excess home deaths in Wave 2.
6/

Huge excess in homes matched by deficit in hospitals for year as a whole. Contributing to excess deaths at home in Wave 2.
7/

Huge deficit this year - all year! - even at the start of the year when we suspect Covid was circulating before restrictions. This is so so strange. Even despite deficit, there has been an excess in the home.
8/

Biggest cause of death other than Covid. Overwhelmingly happening at home. Noticeable elevation during Wave 1 restrictions. Not so noticeable in Wave 2 but contributing to excess deaths at home now.

I spend so much time looking at Scottish data, trying to see what those who think the restrictions are justified see...
This particular journey has been interesting and unexpected for me.
I thought covid maybe was accounting for the excess deaths we have now....

.... but on closer inspection, once again, I have seen it is provable that hospitals should not be overwhelmed and if they are it's not because of too many ill patients. It's the restrictions and the interference with our normal systems and infrastructure that kill us.

And what is the source of all this pain??
The #PCRtest. Churning out bad data obscuring the true picture, creating a misplaced sense of danger and risk, causing extensive misdiagnosis of patients who probably have other respiratory conditions, & justifying lockdown.
