I don't usually speak about my career. But honestly, I also feel obligated to tackle the taboo on Ground Handling Agents. We often go under represented as well as appreciated. I've been in travel for over 8 years, almost 4 of which have been within ground handling.

We don't get the same privileges as airlines directly nor the respect sometimes. We worked tirelessly to best represent the airlines that we were contracted to work with.
It's an incredibly family orientated environment. You're with these people 9 hours a day, 6 days a week from the early hours of 0400AM and you learn how to socialise in a different way, differences aside and make the most of your shift.
Not every story is the same but I can hand on heart say, that at LCY we really cared about BA CityFlyer and each of us who never had the opportunity to work for the airline directly evoked a unique London charm which made flying out of LCY so special.
It's incredibly hard to motivate yourself when you don't get the recognition for what you do at the very least. And I think that's where the Ground Handling Agents often feel brushed under the carpet by the industry.
I'm tired of seeing bloggers and influencers essentially rip handling agents apart. We don't have it as easy as the airlines, no one really gets to see how hard we work. And now as the industry collapses they continue to forget about us.
We're the people unloading your PPE from cargo jets, we're the people on the front line taking a risk so you can go on a covid holibob. We're there making sure you can board your flights on time and safely.
Whether you're Swissport or Menzies, Dnata, Cobalt, Azzurra or ASC you guys and girls deserve an accolade

That is all.
