From clearing snow to lifting roadkill off the road so the kids don't see it, you have to have a shovel. He'll find a hundred uses. Darby are best but you might find a cheaper one. Don't let me tell you how to dig holes. Also look hilarious wrapped up.

I hate to give money tot he empire, but I can't find these battery caddies anywhere else. I got one of these one Christmas and I love it more than some of my limbs. Make him the battery caddy daddy this year! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Organizer-Batteries-Containers-Organization-Transparent/dp/B083TP92L8/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=battery+caddy&qid=1608036109&sr=8-11
He probably has loads of screwdrivers but none that suit the jobs he wants to do, like opening the back of the Xbox controller to see what's in it. One of these wee surgeons screwdriver sets are great. There's nothing he can't open now!

Socks and jocks are stalwarts but go the extra mile and get him the same brand and size that he's been wearing all year, so he doesn't have to break in some spurious unfamiliar new type of boxers. Nobody wants to be handed a project for Christmas.
It's only hairier he's getting so these are very handy. The missus had one but I made my own of it so I just got one for myself for eyes and ears and noses. You can probably find one that isn't pink if that bothers you, but why would it? Wrap it in silage tape if you must.
You're never going to get him the right videogame so instead get him an annual PS membership (Xbox version also available).
Same price as a game but you get loads of freebies, can play online etc... it's like road tax for your Playstation. https://www.playstation.com/en-ie/ps-plus/

Let us not forget the literary classics. https://www.bookstation.ie/product/waterford-whispers-news-2020/
The wheel braces that come with cars are toys, TOYS. They're useless after one wheel change. You can buy a good one here or go to a breakers yards and they'll probably give you one for a fiver. Also looks funny wrapped up. https://ige.ie/wheel-brace/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA2uH-BRCCARIsAEeef3kIBphp0Ab084bc7Htdp3C9NFYjQHcj9LqoL2fkhNNsJHHgUkgonywaAnFIEALw_wcB
A ticket to a movie playing in Galway or Cork or wherever, a train ticket there and back again, a book and a few craft beers for the journey.
I got one of these back when we rented and I could never put it on the wall because I was afraid of losing the deposit and then it didn't survive a move so now I want one again. https://www.gilmartins.ie/Lever-Arm-Can-Crusher
Gonna pin this thread and add more as the day draws nearer, but there's some good starts here for you.
