I think it is time for academic medicine to quit congratulating ourselves for recognizing racism at large and to start naming and changing racist policies and structures.
This looks like removing race from our algorithms.

This looks like a full reexamination of standardized tests.

This looks like health equity as part of every department’s goals.

This looks like actual community engagement that moves beyond health fair.
I’m not satisfied with - “looks like racism is at play”.

You can’t name it and move on. Ask different questions, ask better questions. And if you are stuck, ask who else should be on your team.
