My 100 @threadapalooza tweets will be simple - it is about #gratitude in 2020 - aside from #COVID, when the year started, I had not been sure what to think or feel.

So I probably shut down to function.
1/I am grateful for my family - the health of my parents, brother, and dog (Athena).

Though my parents are probably my second harshest critic (after myself of course), I could have not have achieved what I have without their support and love.
2/I am grateful for the team I work with. We are all quite different, but we respect each other's differences. And, we inspire each other to be better.

As well as to be silly sometimes. Shared laughter is the best kind.
3/I am grateful for today - including all the mishaps.
4/I am grateful that even during my moments of cynicism, I have not failed to enjoy the process of writing physically... with a pen and notebook
Here is a visual of the first page of my penmanship essay:
7/I am grateful that I can still handwrite 200+ holiday cards and write about shared memories and express gratitude.

And that I get through all 200+ and still do it every year for the last 24 years...
8/I am grateful for holiday music and carols to listen to as I write out those 200+ holiday cards...

What are your favorite holiday carols?
I am a traditionalist when it comes to holiday carols, so my favorite is Nat King Cole's "O Holy Night":
9/I am grateful that I found @AmandaMGoetz & @mkobach Twitter accounts... which led me to @david_perell "Write of Passage" and led to a whole host of positive things since then... 👇👇👇
10/I am grateful that during "Write of Passage" I found some amazing mentors - @BleeckerCharlie @matttillotson @PranavMutatkar @ViktorTabori @Bazzaruto
12/I am grateful that all this led to a daily early morning writing session with my Morning Season team - @dagreen77 & @AbVerma21
13/I am grateful that I discovered @thirtytenzero & #StoryWatch courtesy of @dagreen77

💡 Which stories propel us?
💡 Which stories hold us back?
💡 How do we maintain our strong states?
💡 What are our greatest fears?
14/I am grateful that I got to produce several funny faces in the process of producing terrible videos but practice makes perfect courtesy of Minimum Viable Video & @cahouser & @julia_saxena

Voila! Unfortunately, I now have a YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8Tu7QCypWprck6vHU54Q2g?view_as=subscriber
15/I am grateful that today is Bill of Rights day, and that I have some small role in trying to ensure that our Bill of Rights is implemented via serving on the board of @iDueProcess
17/ And oh yes, @TheMikeChase and I serve on the board of @iDueProcess together - I am also grateful for that
18/I am grateful that during 2019, I had the opportunity to meet @mangoscott_ at a conference in Michigan courtesy of @Senorita_Dez
19/Because this led to my being invited to speak at @finmango Extravaganza and have @SamatAhana as my moderator

https://venturecatalyst.vc/2020/06/01/finmango-extravaganza-2020/
20/And I met @GeneinLetford, keynote speaker of "Your Creative Wealth is Your Financial Wealth" -

She helped me think about creativity in a different way
22/Which made me more aware of how we need to be more aware that creativity comes in different forms...

What are your superpowers?

Whatever mine are, I am grateful for them, and I write about them in Trade-offs and Triumphs 4 https://jennykim.substack.com/p/trade-offs-and-triumphs-4
23/So I suppose that I am grateful that I cannot draw a straight line with a ruler as well. 🤣🤣🤣

Because I had to figure out other ways to draw straight lines.
24/I am very grateful for homebaked goods that my friends send me so that my mother actually has something to eat as opposed to complaining all day about my lack of culinary talents 🤣🤣🤣
25/I am grateful for all my teachers, with whom I keep in touch each year, unless that particular teacher has passed away.

For those who have passed away, thank you for teaching and believing in me. A wonderful teacher is a wonderful present.
26/I am grateful for all the people who encouraged me to read and to read non-stop.

Entire worlds open up, and then you are willing to stretch.

Because when you're desperate for something to read, even cereal boxes will do.
27/I am grateful that my parents, despite tight financial circumstances, purchased the entire World Book encyclopedia set for me when I was 10.

It was the best thing ever - reading it from page to page was wonderful.

But I still don't like looking at pictures of insects.
28/And I am grateful that no one ever seemed to want to "steal" our annual World Book update when the mail carrier left it on the front door of our apartment in NYC... somehow, I guess annual World Book updates were not that popular.

Not like Air Jordans.
29/And I am grateful that during the 1992 Summer Olympics, I paid such earnest attention to women's gymnastics, that I caught an error in the 1993 World Book annual update.

Tatiana Gutsu is not the same as Tatiana Lysenko.
30/I am grateful that despite my parents' desire for me to be more scientifically and mathematically inclined, they did encourage me to write short stories all through high school and college.

For a time, I found my voice.
31/I am also grateful that my high school had a wonderful library. It is where I found F. Scott Fitzgerald, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Charles Lindbergh, Zelda Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and every biography published about the Kennedy family.
32/I am grateful that I worked part-time at the NYU Bobst Library. It is where I found random books about art, how Walt Disney produced his animations, and tried to read every novel upon which a movie was produced in the 1930s.

It is also where I discovered Hitchcock movies.
33/I am grateful that I have worked since I was 14 and managed three jobs and full semesters during the last 2 years of college. Those experiences taught me:

👉How to manage my time more effectively
👉Taxes always need to be considered
👉Sometimes you drop balls, and it's ok
34/I am grateful that I know that I am both a rubber and a glass ball...

ICYMI: A 🧵from the past abt our tendencies to have both rubber & glass ball qualities... strength and fragility https://twitter.com/jennykim/status/1319585952369659905
35/I am grateful that @dagreen77 @AbVerma21 & @mango_kale pushed and inspired me to write this essay 👇👇👇

36/I am grateful that I met @mango_kale

We have shared several long convos about #mentalhealth, managing priorities, being authentic, and trying to manage through #COVID19

Kaylei, thank you for listening to me and for being willing to work with me
37/I am grateful for #berelentless and @RealSeanatella - she has created a space to discuss important issues of the soul and the heart

And to bring our stories that propel and stop us from being honest with ourselves

And to be ok with saying "I'm not ok" today
38/I am grateful that @mango_kale @antschilt are all connected to #berelentless and @RealSeanatella - it has led to more insights and convos during the Monday 7pm ET #berelentless Twitter chats
39/I am grateful for Twitter chats generally

@B2the7 has put together this incredible Twitter chat resource with hashtags and time

Check it out 👇👇👇
40/I am grateful that @B2the7 had me on as a guest on his #digital360chat back in September 2020 - thank you again for the opportunity https://twitter.com/i/events/1320052447897882625?s=20
41/I am grateful for the warm welcome I have encountered when I participate in Twitter chats

👉Found new kindred spirits
👉Learn interesting insights
👉Figure out what I do want to be and not be
42/For example, @winniesun's warm welcome enabled me to become a regular participant on #winniesun chats and meet so many wonderful ppl
44/ @MaikoSakaiBiz led me to her great blog, #launchandfounders, & impt of #Coffee

Grateful for all the learnings and only the 2nd time I have won anything

1st time was with #leadloudly & @NathalieGregg
45/I am definitely grateful for coffee - no question about that
46/Grateful that @SfwGreg intro me to @noowaveco coffee

Focused on bringing creativity and productivity to you as you drink it

What more could one ask for?
47/Grateful to @IHaveABean coffee as well 4 providing #secondchances & opportunities to ppl with criminal records

Thanks for having me visit!
49/Grateful to all the #secondchance biz for enabling ppl's dreams to become a reality

And for sticking with them and by them no matter what.

We all need someone like that.
50/Grateful to friends who have always stuck by me through thick and thin... you know who are you and thank you
Because true friendships that stand the test of time are golden
51/But @BleeckerCharlie expl in her most recent Transparent Tuesdays newsletter ( https://charliebleecker.substack.com/p/transparent-tuesdays-486), some friendships don't last forever either

And that's ok too

Thank you to those who have graced my life for a period. Shared laughter memories will keep me warm forever.
52/I am also grateful for darkness, because without darkness we cannot see the stars... per @guptaviolin

ICYMI: I discussed his beautiful essay about "Isolation vs Solitude" in Trade-offs and Triumphs 12

"Isolation contracts. Solitude expands" https://jennykim.substack.com/p/trade-offs-and-triumphs-12

53/Although I have not joined meditating formally, I am grateful that @AbVerma21 made me aware of Paul Brunton & Mungala Venaktaramiah

ICYMI: "Are You Aware That You Are Aware?"

https://abhishekverma.substack.com/p/are-you-aware-that-you-are-aware

Because none of us want to sleepwalk thru life.

At least, I hope not.
52/ I am grateful that I can learn about meditation indirectly ...

check out @AbVerma21 thread abt meditation - after 400+ hours of mediation https://twitter.com/AbVerma21/status/1316963123421696000
54/I am grateful that @AbVerma21 intro me to @_patriciamou ... learning more about wellness, but also led me to another way to conduct an annual review of 2020: https://twitter.com/_patriciamou/status/1338325830846402560?s=20
