Dundee's drug deaths figures continue to climb. Thinking of the parents who have lost precious children and the children who have lost their Mum or Dad. The human cost is too high and the our approach must change. 1/6
We are three years on from the collective moral panic that prompted our calls for a Drugs Commission. We are almost two years on from the receipt of the draft recommendations. The pace of change is glacially slow. 2/6
The pandemic has done more to force service alterations than the commission. There has been some progress on unplanned discharges. Same day prescribing remains challenging to access. The welcome NFOD pathway was a Police Scotland initiative and must be scaled. 3/6
We still have substance misuse services which are under resourced and I believe that the punitive culture that is at the heart of the service's problems remains. Change must happen immediately. No further delays are acceptable. 4/6
The Scottish figures are a shame on the nation and tell a story of a decade of governmental indifference. Let's be clear: these people are allowed to die because of who they are. They are poor, they are neglected, they are abused and then they die. 5/6
The SNP Government gives the distinct impression that it can do nothing about this epidemic. The SNP are wrong. they are a very big part of the problem and are not fit to be in office. 6/6
