See this banter about women having money that's been on for the past couple of day... I'm uncomfortable about it in a way I can't explain.
Maybe it's because @TheVunderkind has done a number of threads on how women don't actually have more money than we do.
He's shared a couple of studies & they're clear. Women might save more, but they (overall) earn less & have more expenses.

Maybe it's because I see my partner's expenses. I see how much she spends on things that I've never thought about spending money on. Do y'all know how much sanitary pads cost? As a regular expense, every month?
Maybe it's because I watched my mother work hard & support my dad for decades, only for him to repay her with a begrudging & bitter attitude when it was his time. Not at all unlike the many Tyler Perry movies.
Maybe it's because studies have shown that the best way to economic progress for any society is to lift women out of poverty and make sure they have money in their hands. They're more likely to put their money into the development of their families than men are.
Maybe it's because I think it's relatively irresponsible to try to "hold women to the same standards they hold us," when we find it so damn hard to meet those standards in the first place.
Doing what we say we will. Being there for our families & shouldering responsibility...

Maybe it's because I understand that comedy can be a way to keep a culture alive and what is seen as bants may end up encouraging the idea that "women have more money than they need."
I dunno... I just don't feel comfortable with the banter. But y'all go ahead.
