It's time for a Y2K render thread. The peak of CGI aesthetics imo, the technology just wasn't quite there to create photorealism, but that's what made this era so special. When limitations are imposed on a medium, users need to substitute realism with composition & subject matter
Technological limitations combined with experimental composition & subject matter resulted in an ethereal aesthetic; like something your brain created whilst dreaming. Once we were able to create photorealistic images, this was lost. We became grounded.
