A thread of my thoughts about Episode 61 using a bit of motivation from this thread and what I think it means for the series. https://twitter.com/drunkhelos/status/1338444930105094147
It's really failed to show Reiners character in the way manga readers know. Also no Pieck ass, which would have been very funny, after a great 1st episode episode 2 was also good but wasn't done justice. This surprises me cause they said that they would like to stick as closely-
To the manga as possible, and they are doing it but not the way that the scenes need to show. Not sending the messages isayama wanted to send about Reiner and it might really take away value from his character and certain scenes that come later. One of the main lessons about-
-Attack on Titan is the deception of truth, these few episodes are very important in showing how both sides behave and act to show that in war, their isn't really a right and a wrong. Everyone is a victim to someone else with Titans probably being the worst Victims. This episode-
Was very important in doing that. Hope the following episodes are adapted better. The soldier suicide scene that was added was pretty decent, showing how time on the battle field affected the Eldians, especially after the scene where the Eldians are being commanded to practically
-Become fodder, the fear in their faces and their fall to insanity highlights their suffering in that war especially as Eldians. But it did feel rushed, if you didn't pay close attention you wouldn't have made sense of it, I feel it could've been done better. I hope this isn't a-
Theme for the rest of the season. MAPPA, Just follow Isayama's Manga with good animation and you will get a 12/10 Anime, that's how good this arc is. This episode gets a 6/10 for the lack of justice Reiners character is Given, considering the whole episode was about him.
