A few people have asked me how to increase engagement on Twitter & grow a following. I am, and I cannot stress this enough, VERY far from an expert but, a few things stand out from 14 months of tweeting a lot.

Thread 👇
1. Comment, a lot. If you have a small following, getting anyone to see your tweets in the first place is hard. How do you change this? You comment on tweets from people who don't follow you, especially on tweets that are getting a lot of engagement. Do this A LOT.
2. Respond to replies. When you do tweet, one way to increase views is to respond to the replies, the more you can manufacture engagement the better, this is an easy way to do that. Or just text your friends and make them engage with your tweets 😂.
3. Find a niche. Pick a few topics you want to tweet about a lot (hi, fintech friends 👋) and find a few people you engage with a lot in that space. This will help you get followers that engage with a high % of your content & potentially even give you IRL friends!
4. Learn from successes & failures. See what gets engagement, what format of tweets seems to work best, what time of day is best for tweeting (if anyone knows the answer to this, please tell me).
5. When all else fails, shitpost. As I've tweeted about in the past, you can't force engagement and sometimes you have to resort to shitposting. I'm not proud of it, but here we are. https://twitter.com/amyecheetham/status/1265833449354432512?s=20
