Music lists in 2020 are absurd because it's impossible to listen to everything that dropped and make an attempt at some kind of definitive list. Just say these are our favorites and I probably missed a bunch of shit and/or didn't have time to listen to things more than once.
Looking at some of these year end lists and they are so drastically different and filled with albums that I didn't even realize were released. It's overwhelming.
Just a month or so ago I saw a ton of people deem Busta's ELE 2 as an instant classic. Yet, I haven't seen it on very many year-end lists. Does that mean it isn't good anymore? Was it overhyped? Or simply drowned out by another million releases? It's ridiculous.
Billboard's list of top 20 rap albums doesn't include D. Smoke, Royce, Boldy James, Busta or Conway. Stereogum doesn't have a single Griselda release. Very few have Spillage Village. I'm not saying they are wrong, it's just impossible to keep up.
