First up, we’ve added native virtual camera output options for both macOS and Linux! Huge thanks to our volunteer developers who put in the time and energy into making these possible.
Note that on macOS, if you already have the original version of the virtual camera plugin from johnboiles, you may need to uninstall it first before using the built-in version of the plugin. See https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/fyi-macos-virtual-cam-on-obs-26-1.135468/ for details.
On Linux, the virtual camera plugin requires the use of v4l2loopback-dkms. Make sure you have that package installed on your system, or the feature will not be available.
This release adds a second audio track when streaming to Twitch which will be saved to the VOD instead of the stream audio. You can enable this feature in Output settings when streaming to Twitch. Special thanks to @Twitch for assisting during the development of this feature!
We’ve also updated several of the underlying dependencies of OBS, notably our UI framework, Qt. This update resolves a number of issues, including fixing some accessibility problems and addressing strange behavior on high-DPI displays.
NOTE: If you have plugins that you have not updated in a while, especially obs-websocket or StreamFX, it’s possible OBS 26.1 may fail to start due to this change. Please ensure that all your plugins are up-to-date before running this version of OBS.
