Thread: Thinking about moving to *Downtown* #Miami ?

Here is *my* unofficial quick guide to the neighborhoods of @downtownMIA

First: The "City of Miami" is HUGE (red outlined area + more.) "Downtown" is the area outlined in blue

Downtown Miami is located between I-195 / Julia Tuttle causeway to the north and The Rickenbacker causeway to the south.

In between you have 4 basic neighborhoods

Edgewater / Midtown
Park West
Downtown CBD
Brickell
2/
This is Brickell: known as the "Manhattan of he South"

Pros: Dense, walkable neighborhood with shopping restaurants and everything you need.
Cons: Condos/Apts here are higher priced than avg and views are limited due to density
3/
One other thing to know about Brickell.... The road access points are... Limited. If you live AND work in Brickell or work remote, it not that big a deal. But if you are commuting in and out everyday it's not ideal.
4/
Moving on....Just North and over the River is "The Central Business District" or the Real Downtown Miami.

Pros: Great views from most apts/condos, DEALS to be had on rentals. Parks and open space. Lower key than Brickell.
Cons: still growing, a very few rough spots.
5/
Moving on to my current neighborhood: Park West

*@bing maps birds eye view here is REALLY old

Park West / Miami World Center is a neighborhood in flux. The row of buildings where built 2008-2011 and the rest of the land behind them was a wasteland until very recently...
6/
It looks something like this now....I say something, because Miami World Center still very much in progress and about 50-60% complete
7/
So: Park West

Pros: best views in Downtown Miami, deals can be had on Apts, great park across the street
Cons: kinda of island by itself until Miami World Center gets finished. Can be loud when the Heat are playing. Grocery stores a few blocks in ether direction
Now we cross I395 ( Which is being totally redone with a fancy new bridge.)

The next neighborhood is "The A&E District" and it's so new that @bing doesn't even have it on the map.

In the past 5 years developers have added 3500+ units in the orange circled area

Next up?

Edgewater:

Edgewater is a mostly residential along Biscyane Blvd. Plenty of restaurant's and bars as well

Pros: Lots of housing choices, great views, quiet
Cons: Kinda far from the action, long walk to some things

So there you have it, most of the neighborhoods of downtown Miami (Midtown and Wynwood could be their own threads)

If you have further questions about the neighborhoods, please DM me I'm happy to help.

On more thing,
If you live downtown you can use the MetroMover... it's kinda like a boring Disney ride... But it will take you all over Downtown Miami for FREE
One more thought, Downtown #Miami is *extremely* compact

It's only approx. 1 mile wide and 5 miles long and you have everything you need (Target, Whole Foods) really, you never need to leave... Unless you need to run to Costco or Ikea. đŸ’â€â™‚ïž
