From my limited perspective, it seems this issue - possible/likely/very likely warming masked behind anthropogenic aerosols, which we are now actively cleaning up, & could reveal A LOT of additional forcing - is not well understood in the climate policy & advocacy community.
The real, near-term health benefits of limiting these aerosols is clear. It is fantastic that some policies to get rid of them are actually working. But we also have to grapple with what that means for global warming, and what that could mean for adaptation needs. And act.
