I don’t understand the current degree of non-interactivity of a certain category of smart, interesting, reasonably well-intentioned people

I don’t mean people agreeing on everything. I maybe mean a lack of stable long-term intent to interweave into shared social fabric.
Hanging out on twitter is cool but doesn’t commit anyone to anything. Startups are cool. People marrying each other is good. Could be so much more. Physical world bonds. Not all corona’s fault

Maybe most are much more tied to their real world lives than they seem to signal?
The twitter intellectual engagement takes a sideline to people’s ‘real lives’

Obv that’s a good distance level for some people. If you’ve ‘got yours’ in terms of community, spouse, life purpose, friend group & whatnot.

Still want to know how much is being left on the table
Maybe the intent is there and it’s a matter of individuals following through by leading social fabric-creating engagements.

Or, maybe the intent/fundamentals aren’t really there. Maybe the people you’d really want to get are content enough, non-commital.
I’m sensing that fog of war.
Definitely. Things like this make me favor the “there is room to grow” story. We are getting fried by ambient context, into believing that nothing lasts long, everything is shallow, no commitments can be built and so on. A brutal modern education. https://twitter.com/princevogel/status/1338642046886801416
Would like to read about this! One thing corona has taught me is that there are ways to sustain community-like things over the internet. I want colocation as well, but am now seeing that as less competitive. Internet is a good insurance for when communities physically disperse. https://twitter.com/stephenpiment/status/1338643203298185216
My data is varied. I'm involved in some intersecting groups which engage at diff levels of depth, but I know I can't see a lot of what's happening. This has led to hesitation around building sthg myself - maybe the thing I want exists, I'm just not in it! https://twitter.com/krzhang/status/1338672574079766531?s=20
maybe the answer is swag
