What the issue is at Arsenal: A Thread
-
Arsenal are in a crisis, and practically everyone at the club is to blame, but when giving blame it’s important to give blame to those who deserve it.
-
All RTS appreciated this took a while to do
The Problem(s) (in order):
1) Owner
2) The Board
3) The Players
4) The Fans
5) The Manager
1) The Owner:
Common knowledge at this point. Kroenke will not invest. Three years ago he was presented with the issue that if he does not seriously invest this club will completely fall apart, and he chose to ignore it. Every issue Arsenal has falls on him.
2) The Board:
Our board is absolutely shocking. Poor decision after poor decision makes me genuinely believe i could do a better job running the club than they could. Those who have been following me for a while will know that I wanted Aubameyang sold in the summer,
Continue:
not because he lacks the quality, but because this team was ‘aubameyang and inshallah’ so to speak and was only ever going to go downhill when auba stops performing. we needed to sell him and build an actual team, instead, we gave him a 350k per week contract
Continue:
and essentially recreated the ozil situation with another player. we spend 700k a week on wages for two players who contribute nothing and i don’t even blame the players. this falls on the board. poor scouting and wasting budget (over paying for pepe)
Continue:
shows just how poor this board is. If we want to get anywhere as a club every member of that toxic and wasteful board has to go.
3) The Players:
Ironically, it’s the players who have been here the longest who have let us down the most. When discussing players, you have to determine which players are simply a product of a bad environment and which players are actually THE problem
Continue:
Players like Willian, Ceballos and Pepe actually play well if you watch them yet are scapegoated due to a few bad performances which are generally not even directly their fault. Fans expect these players to fix something completely out of their control
Continue:
Some players rise through the adversity and put in good performances week in and week out which is truly remarkable. Tierney, Gabriel, Partey and especially Saka have shown how world class they are and i say saka especially as he’s only 19 years old. He is incredible.
Continue:
Now we get to players who are the issue. Xhaka, Bellerin, Luiz etc. These players have severe attitude issues and have let down Arteta countless times. Each have had stints where they’ve been in form but overall have been shocking in more ways than one
They have leeched this club of a career and have the audacity to comment on the fans after the performances they’ve given. None of them deserve abuse, but they’ve come out against genuine criticism which pisses me off more than anything
Continue:
Aubameyang, Lacazette and Ozil are indirectly the issue and i say indirectly as it’s not their fault. They should have been sold last summer and i don’t know why all three of them are still here. They contribute little and take away from the progression of the club
Continue:
Aubameyang as captain needs to be doing a significantly better job, and not even just his form, he walks around with his head down and couldn’t be bothered to run for balls anymore. As a captain he’s been shocking and i’m not sure why he’s been given the armband
4) The Fans:
This fanbase slanders players day in day out and are so unbelievably reactionary towards anything that they end up doing more harm than good. Their treatment of the Hale End lads has been fucking shocking, idk how you can expect players under 21 years old
Continue:
to lead a team and change the momentum of senior team games. Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah receive CONSTANT slander which could shatter their confidence and essentially could ruin two top talents. Now i say slander because i am not opposed to criticism
Continue:
Constructive criticism is always warranted however bashing 21 year olds online and personally harassing your own players is a fucking joke, especially when so much of it is unwarranted. If you have an agenda against youth of ur own team you are a shocking human being.
5) The Manager
I’ve put Arteta last as i don’t believe this mess is on him but that does not mean he doesn’t deserve blame. Though his tactics have been good, His team selection has been poor. Players like Bellerin and Xhaka should not be starting week in week out
Continue:
Especially with options such as Ceballos and AMN rotting on the bench. His handling of the situation with Saliba has been shocking to say the least though he has admitted his mistake which I’ll give him credit for.
Continue:
I also do not place blame on Arteta for Ozil it’s clear he’s taken the fall for the board because if you genuinly think arteta left ozil out for ‘footballing reasons’ you’re an idiot, and Arteta will not scapegoat his employers.
Continue:
I think Arteta is a fine manager but he’s not dealt with enough adversity to know how to get us out of the situation we are in. Idk if im arteta out because i don’t see what changing the manager does, as it’s the last of our issues imo. If you change the manager
Continue:
and keep the rest of the problems than absolutely nothing changes and we will back in this situation in less than a years time.
Conclusion:
Practically everyone is at fault for the mess at Arsenal but please place the correct blame on those who deserve it instead of mindlessly targeting those who don’t deserve it. As a fanbase we can only control ourselves and we need to be doing better. End of thread.
