1/ IMO, there’s nothing wrong with so-called “cancel culture”. One of the benefits of democracy and capitalism is the freedom to spend your money anywhere you want, for any reason, and not elsewhere. Same w/ associating with people, companies & organizations. It’s merely choice.
2/ if you learn something about a person, company or organization that troubles you about their products or their policies, you have every right to “cancel” dealing with them. It’s how I switch brands of say, cars, because another one is better. Same with news sources.
3/ Some people buy iPhones because of @Apple’s tight privacy and curation policies. Others “cancel” them for the very same reason. Some “cancel” a candidate for office, or a commentator, because they disagree with them. It’s fine and natural, as I see it.
4/ I absolutely oppose threatening violence against individuals or companies you dislike, or doxxing them. But there is nothing wrong with *peaceful*, non-violent, organized boycotts, like the 1955 Montgomery, AL, bus boycott - a seminal event in the civil rights movement.
