Not *just* Thanksgiving, of course; we've been in a pandemic for months. But this spike owes a lot to all the families who said, "Oh, let's just have a normal meal -- it'll be fine."
It wasn't fine.
It wasn't fine.
And if we do this again for Christmas (or Hanukkah or whatever) -- if we ignore safety in favor of a veneer of normalcy -- then come January, we're going to be here again, but *even worse*.

I know it sucks. I know you want a normal holiday. I know the lack of light and the inability to relax outdoors is grinding you down. I feel it, too. You should absolutely look for ways to make yourself feel better.
Just . . . not ones that will kill even more people.

There *is* light on the horizon, in the form of vaccines. But we've gotta get there first. And the more widespread the disease is, the longer it will take that fire hose to put the blaze out. We have to contain it. So that next year's holidays can be merry and bright.
