Why do we need #LTNs? Because the rise of speeding 'back street' traffic since 2009 has caused carnage on neighbourhood streets
"TfL’s latest analysis of STATS19 data which shows that there has been a increase in walking and cycling casualties on neighbourhood roads - mirroring the increase in traffic volumes"
You've all seen this one, showing traffic rising sharply on residential streets (in yellow), since 2009
So look at this one: In some areas of London, casualties from traffic collisions has gone up by 400 percent!

This is caused by heavy traffic on residential streets that were never designed for heavy traffic.
To sum up: #LTNs are needed to counter the unrestrained growth of traffic on residential streets and stop the massive increase in deaths and serious injuries on those streets.

They also promote healthy active travel, as residents tend to ditch cars & increase walking & cycling
