đź”´ Department for Education has issued a Temporary Continuity Direction to Greenwich council, ordering them to retract advice saying schools should close. Essentially forcing them to keep schools open by law, even when they feel it is unsafe to do so.
Two more councils (Islington, Waltham Forest) have followed Greenwich's lead on advising closures. Will gov now issue them with the same orders?
Full order is here. Greenwich must withdraw letters to heads advising them to shut, withdraw open letter to parents, and send a fresh letter to all schools drafted by Secretary of State about the need to stay open. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/944142/Royal-London-Borough-of-Greenwich-Temporary-Continuity-Direction.pdf
