I've seen a lot of people saying I was "right" about Cyberpunk and that I must feel vindicated by the backlash toward the game and yes it is fun to see the 180 on Reddit BUT
The point of reviews is not to be "correct" or to fit with some consensus; the point of reviews is to give an honest opinion and to back up that opinion with your words. It doesn't matter if you're an outlier if you can back up your arguments.
I never try to be "right" when I'm writing or editing because, well, I have no idea what other sites are going to give a game! I thought my review of TLOU2 was going to be among the most positive, which ended up not being the case at all.
I'm never worried about being an outlier in the sense that I won't be "correct" about a game, but I am *always* worried about the unpredictable ways in which my words will be twisted and used against me, no matter how carefully I craft and edit them.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I won't feel truly vindicated until reviewers can do this job without that fear, regardless of their opinion.
