I am going to be doing a track for track rating Doris. At the end I will rate it and give a summary. RTs are going to be appreciated!
PRE: It has a really weird synth beat going into it, it starts with SK rapping and he has a really nasally voice. The track mainly revolves around them getting money and bragging, Earl carried the track for the second half, 8/10
Burgundy: The beginning starts with a voice that tells earl that no one cares how he feels following his grandmother's death. This song has one of the best beats in my opinion and it paves the way for the other tracks. Him and Vince have crazy good flow (1)
and has bars. These two have really good chemistry and work well together. This track is mainly about him struggling with depression.
20 Wave Caps: It has a really good beat and some people call it his best-produced song. He and Domo genesis have chemistry as well because of odd future. They both float on the song which causes me to like it, 9.5/10
Sunday: I feel like this could be the best song on the album. It has frank's best verse imo and he raps about how he stopped smoking weed because he went to Samoa for Camp. Frank also touches on how Chris brown jumped him but frank outshined him and won the grammy. 10/10
Hive: This song is crazy good from the beat to the flow. Earls rhyme scheme is comparable to DOOM's flow and is easily one of the best soundings. Casey and Vince also carry on with the flow and good lyricism which causes me to give this a 9.8/10
Chum: This is also a contender for best song. He raps about his struggle with not fitting in and always getting in trouble until he met Tyler, the creator who solved his problems, but his mom grew a disliking of earl which heaped up some depression. 10/10
Sasquatch: This song was not really that good, mostly because Tyler became "too" edgy on it which caused me to dislike it. It was like he was bragging about not giving a fuck and in general, didn't sound good with the beat, earl didn't stand out as well. 7.8/10
Centurion: This song had a very sinister beat which Vince really carried onto the feeling of it. Their lines were about murder and killing shit, which I felt throughout the song and is top 7 in the album, it gets you hype. 8.9/10
523: It was really forgettable because it was a meshed up instrumental to carry onto Uncle Al, not very enjoyable and brings the album down for me, but fits in. 6/10
Uncle Al: This is a short but sweet song, containing very good lyricism and the beat is good. for a 1 minute song, it might be my favorite out of all 1 minute songs (except for loosie). 9.7/10
Guild: It has one of Mac millers best verses with incredible rhyme schemes and Earl never disappointed. It had an altered pitch to make it sinister and helped the vibe of it clearly, very good song. 10/10
Molasses: Also a contender for the best song because of the beat, which is top 3, RZA has an entertaining verse and overall is crazy good, this is personally my fav song on Doris.
Whoa: Earl, has, one, of, the, best, rhyme, schemes, ever, in, this, song. Tyler didn't contribute even though he featured on it. still one of the greatest of earls. 10/10
Knight: The final track does not disappoint. It has the best beat on the album. Domo and Earl float on it while the track gets watered down, which earl references in a bar. 10/10
OUTSTANDING ALBUM, and my personal favorite by him, 8.7 in conclusion, but it's a biased 9.3. I recommend listening to it, and thanks for reading!!
