It's worth remembering that the entire recent crusade against Pornhub is not about things like child porn and revenge porn but about a right-wing evangelical crusade against pornography itself.

Anyone serious about tackling child pornography would have never targeted Pornhub, they would have gone after Facebook.

The point of attacking Pornhub, of making the story about them and getting the card companies to stop processing payments to them, is to starve the brand name of porn out of business, and then once you have that precedent you can do the same to anyone.
Funny thing is, in the end, assuming VISA and MC resume payments to Pornhub's parent company, this move might actually end up being a net positive for sex workers who use Pornhub as a platform... since now they're not competing for views against a bunch of pirated content.
