Things I wish someone would have told me when I first started my business!
A Thread

You didn’t leave your 9-5 to work 24/7. Put boundaries around your work and go to sleep, hoe.
Your anxiety was not made for this. Go see a therapist AND your Coach. You’re going to need both.
Stop trying to be like everyone else you see in your niche. Your differences make you shine. Talk about the social issues that matter to you and don’t silence your voice.
Cold DMs with an immediate pitch is a terrible idea. You will annoy people if you do them and the lack of response (or rejection) will discourage you. Focus on relationship building over immediate sales first.
You are not the only BIWOC in your field doing this work. You are not alone. Keep looking and connecting with people to find your people.
Sales isn’t the only way you can increase revenue in your business. There are plenty of Grants to support Woman & Minority Owned Businesses. You can also crowdfund through platforms like @IFundWomen
You do not have competitors, you have collaborators. Do livestreams, bundles, giveaways, and collaboration projects with other colleagues in your niche as early as possible. They are your coworkers, and want to see you win just as much as they want to win.
You define your level of success. 10k months or six-figure years is a great goal, but it isn’t a defining “success factor.” Reflect on what your goals in success is rooted in.
You and your business are going to help change your community and inspire others to take action. Spread your wealth and knowledge often and make sure you have options to make that happen that are accessible.
You can do this. Even if you’re married, with kids. Even if you work a full-time job. Even if you don’t know where to start. You can do this. Seek out community that’ll help you get started.
