My friend Stephanie Theodore's account has been permanently deactivated for the attached tweet. I tried emailing @TwitterSupport but got an automated reply sending me to a menu that won't allow me to register my utter mystification and disgust with this decision...
Stephenie's tweet isn't threatening anyone, it isn't even critical of any ONE person. It's a NYer, living alone, struggling to keep her business safely open during a pandemic, in which Republican Senators - as a MASS - have refused to consider aid for our hard-hit state...
over the past ten years, I have been frustrated by the way Twitter has allowed racists and misogynistic bullies to flourish on the platform, but this is the first time I've ever seen someone kicked off for reasons I can't understand. A terrible mistake has been made.
Stephanie wasn't bullying or even name-calling she was, in fact, giving voice to a frustration shared by millions of her neighbors. She was punching UP, and not just out of frustration for herself, but on behalf of her even less fortunate neighbors...
