The UCP’s mis-management of the pandemic has been guided by ideology. They have ignored evidence and experts, they have hurt people and the economy.

While Albertans were (quite rightly) focused on forcing them to take steps to protect us they also...

Passed a Bill to limit workers’ right to a safe workplace, and limit their access to compensation if they do get hurt.

Including making it harder for health care workers to claim for PTSD. During a pandemic. The UCP claim this is “balance.”

Accelerated the corporate hand out. Because apparently it’s complete failure to create even one single job, and the cuts to education and health care it forced on Albertans, were not enough to cause the UCP to re-examine their ideology over evidence approach.

Passed a Bill about child care that completely ignored the recommendations of the fatality inquiry into the death of a 22 month old. Recommendations that would prevent similar deaths.

Apparently protecting the lives of children did not make the UCP priority list. 4/ #ableg
Took another step towards writing critical thinking out of our education curriculum.

After defending awful leaked curriculum as “only recommendations” the UCP fired the expert working group and allowed mere days to replace them.

Passed a Bill that will make our health care system more American by allowing private hospitals.

Okay, this was last session, but it is an attack on equal access to health care and is worth repeating. Because it shows who the UCP are.

The UCP defended climate change denial by their MLAs as “free speech”. At a time when we know real action on climate change is a factor in attracting international investment.

Their defence of free speech is limited to their MLAs and anti-maskers, no one else. 7/ #ableg
There are so very many more - but for now, these are a few things everyone should be aware of.

We should fight the UCP’s inadequate response to the pandemic, but don’t forget all the things they are trying to push through hoping we are too busy to notice.
