Wisconsin Supreme Court rules against Trump’s attempt to overturn his loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the state
The ruling, written by conservative Justice Brian Hagedorn, came one hour before the Electoral College was to meet
Hagedorn says Trump campaign "is not entitled to the relief it seeks."
Trump wanted to disqualify more than 221,000 ballots in Dane and Milwaukee counties
Trump wanted to disqualify more than 221,000 ballots in Dane and Milwaukee counties
Hagedorn joined with three liberal justices in the majority, while three conservatives justices dissented
Dissenting conservative justices said instead of saying Trump raised issues too late, the court should have ruled on the merits of each claim he brought, clarified the law, and said whether ballots in those categories should have been counted
To be clear, had the three dissenting justices found one more vote, enough ballots likely would have been disqualified to overturn Biden's win in Wisconsin
Once again, Justice Hagedorn's siding with liberal justices provides the pivotal vote in a high profile case
