PSA: Some of you may be phoned by an outfit doing a “green” survey sponsored by AAFC in alignment with OECD, and offering $50/30 minutes of your time. The survey asks MANY front loaded/leading questions clearly not vetted by any primary producer. 1/n
Survey is based out of California, but paid for by AAFC. Ask for a paper copy, but denied despite the myriad of options presented over the phone. Gets into payments for many env options...setbacks, cc, buffers, 30% N reduction, 20% pesticide reduction, manure use, etc.. 2/n
Eg $108/ha for implementing ALL the above for 5 years, $178/ha for implementing and additional $178/ha for “measurable results” over 5 years. $232/ha over 5 years for implementing additional ‘green’ solutions... Then they lost me with all the various options... 3/n
Kept asking poor gal about regional differences, existing cropping practices and adoptions, agronomy needs of various crops, etc...but was clearly above her pay grade. #cdnag is definitely getting forced into MAJOR changes if any/all of these changes are mandated... 4/n
AAFC budget won’t be big enough for the carrot approach by far. Land expropriation by regulation is coming folks! And, lady said these questions are supported by OECD needs...so it’s a global agenda at work. Be forewarned... That’s all.
PS: Need to show extreme patience with the poor survey taker, as many questions clearly not written by producers..or even with a NA farming slant.....numerous references to arable land, hedgerows, fauna species, flora propagation, manure as a generic source, only ‘solid’ fert..
Okay...after 2 call backs, here is the best option they presented for consideration...$356/ha for 5 years to implement an across the board 30%
N use, 20%
pesticide use, 3 m buffer along borders, 10% of arable land in permanent CC with 10 flowering plants, 1/n

2 m green buffer along all water. Andddd, inspectors to confirm above with proof of 50% GHG reduction, and 20% reduction in surface runoff. $356 is 2 pyts...$178 to implement, $178 after inspection confirming.
