Just because economists support the #CarbonTax doesn't mean it's a pathway to cross-partisan climate action.
This moment is a good reminder. Conservatives are united in pummelling the Liberals over the carbon tax increase laid out in their their new climate plan.

Meanwhile, the Liberals' climate plan is hard to defend.
It leans hard on the unpopular, easy-to-attack carbon tax and still only promises 32% emissions cuts by 2030, which is just 2% better than the Harper target. According to the IPCC, that puts us on track to 3C+ of warming.

The Liberals keep trapping us in fights over insufficient climate action, like the package they announced on Friday, because they're relying on the disproven idea that the #CarbonTax can lead to cross-partisan compromise.

As @SethDKlein points out in his new book, A Good War, just like in WWII the #ClimateEmergency calls for bold leaders who are willing to say clearly where we need to go and how we're going to get there, not cower behind fears of being seen as moving too fast.
