Unhoused people are experts of their experiences & have solutions. When COVID-19 hit in March unhoused organizers, @maapmass & allies began advocating for non-congregate shelter in #Hotels4UnhousedCambMA #CambMA & #MApoli 2/

At Nov #CambMA City Council #homelessness hearing, unhoused organizers from @MAAPMass & members of @CambNonprofits UASC shared the even more dire need 
for non-congregate shelter & reminded (a more receptive) Council a space had been identified last spring... 6/

Since then, @SolutionsatWor4 (w/support from @CambNonprofits UASC) has moved forward w/State of MA to plan a temp dorm shelter for unhoused people in #CambMA during COVID-19.
The only barrier is an advance of funds that will be reimbursed by MA DHCD. 7/

.We at @CambNonprofits UASC are encouraged by recent support of #Hotels4UnhousedCambMA by more #CambMA Councilors (& cont support from others!) & the positive response we received from @MayorSiddiqui.
