We will ow be hearing from Professor Tracey Warren- @traceyw_soc from @NottmUniBschool and Professor Clare Lyonette from @WarwickIER on the impact of Covid on working class women.

Read their research: https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/business/documents/research/carrying-the-work-burden-of-covid-19/briefing-note-2.pdf
Our research shows middle class men are more likely to share housework and working class men are more likely to pick up the slack of housework.
During Covid middle class women were doing far better with access to flexible working arrangements.
"Management and professional women were more likely to say they were able to reduce hours or adapt their working hours to do unpaid work compared to working class women." #CaringEconomyNow @traceyw_soc @NottmUniBschool @WarwickIER
We are now hearing from Alison Andrew from the @TheIFS "Our data shows that it is decisions in the home that have meant mothers have had to priorities unpaid work over paid work." #CaringEconomyNow
"Even when mothers earned more than fathers prior to pandemic she still is doing more childcare and same amount of housework during pandemic which shows that division of unpaid work in household is not an economic decision." Alison Andrew from the @TheIFS
What lasting changes can we see when it comes to unpaid work and paid work post #Covid " We are starting to see more companies embrace flexible and home working but we will have to see whether this becomes a norm across the board" Alison Andrew from the @TheIFS #CaringEconomyNow
"For mothers each additional hour doing childcare increased psychological stress during April" Professor Anne McMunn, @Anne_McMunn @UCL_IEHC and Dr Baowen Xue, @BaowenXue @UCL_IEHC #CaringEconomyNow
During pandemic it was more likely mothers than fathers to reduce working hours to accommodate childcare. 22% of only mothers reduced working hours compared to 11% of only fathers reduced working hrs to accommodate childcare. Dr Baowen Xue, @BaowenXue @UCL_IEHC #CaringEconomyNow
"Overall our research showed that psychological stress was higher if only one parent reduced working hours to accommodate child care" Dr Baowen Xue, @BaowenXue @UCL_IEHC #CaringEconomyNow
Huge thank you to all our speakers! #CaringEconomyNow
