Today Hon’ble CIM, Shri @PiyushGoyal held a bilateral meeting with Mrs. Elizabeth Truss, Secretary of state for intonational Trade, UK.
CIM emphasized the need for fast-tracking the possible trade agreement between the two countries and suggested a 2-step approach (WTO compatible interim agreement being the 1st step and a full-fledged FTA being the 2nd ).
Market access issues faced by Indian products in UK were also highlighted. The bilateral was followed by the UK-India CEO forum meeting.
Discussions were held by industry leaders from both side on priority areas including climate change & green economy, #COVID19, road to recovery & enhanced trade partnerships. Today’s discussions were a pre-cursor for the main meeting scheduled during the visit of UK PM in Jan 2021
