It's incredibly frustrating that a vaccine developed in Germany is distributed elsewhere before it's approved in Europe. The European Union is supposed to make life easier and I don't see that happening here
According to German media reports Minister of Health Spahn said approval would have been significantly faster if Germany had managed the regulatory process nationally instead of relying on a European solution
I've never tested a vaccine and I'm not a virologist but it's going to be difficult to tell people that other countries are using "our" vaccine while we wait because the European Union is slower than we would have been ourselves. All this while we go into "lockdown." Tough sell.
Worth pointing out that the German Minister of Health is also worried. He says this delay could undermine people's faith in the European Union's ability to act: https://twitter.com/jensspahn/status/1338136690590879745?s=20
