TfL's Travel in London report is out! https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/travel-in-london-reports Here are a few things that jumped out at me. Firstly, the expansion of the congestion charge in June had a noticeable impact on traffic. Road user charging works.
Second, this unexciting chart shows some hugely important shifts in travel mode share as a result of the pandemic. For the sake of the climate, air quality, safety and more, we need to shrink that red private (motorised) transport figure by expanding active and public transport.
Third, travel on London's roads became riskier during spring/summer, due to higher vehicle speeds and perhaps an increase in the share of 'non-regular' drivers.
Fourth, Londoners seem much more worried about catching Coronavirus on public transport than in pubs, restaurants, at work or at places of worship. I don't think this correlates with actual risks, and would love to know if there's a similar pattern in other countries.
