No matter what side you fall on in the Cutler/JR thing, isn't the larger point that AEW has an announcer who actively dislikes, or is at the very least very annoyed by, a good chunk of the product? Kind of an important part of the "announcing" job.
I'm not saying Ross doesn't have the right to feel the way he does about certain styles. He gets to have an opinion the same as anyone else. But a wrestling announcer's job is to sell the product they've been hired to call.
Of course announcers don't enjoy every second of everything they call, but you fake it, you find things to enjoy. Ross for years now, dating back to at least NJPW, has often ranged from "disinterested" to "openly contemptuous and actively complaining" during some matches.
Yeah, there are some matches where he's clearly into it and in his wheelhouse. Dustin/Cody, Ishii in NJPW, etc, but if you actively dislike what 50% or more of a product is, and you can't even bring yourself to convincingly hide it, maybe it's not the job for you.
Like, I'm not super into tennis and I don't feel guilty about that, but I also know that means I would make a bad tennis announcer, especially if I frequently just started complaining about the ref and needed a picture book to identify the players.
