When it comes to mixing at Christmas, think RISKS not RULES.
What is the best way to keep your family and community safe?
What are the risks of infection in your area?
How would you feel if someone close to you fell ill due to meeting up?
For some families, say those where there is a relative with limited life expectancy or someone with severe mental health problems, the balance of risks may still favour meeting up at Christmas. But they won't be the majority.
For most of us, looking squarely at the balance of risks, it makes much more sense to delay and start planning for a big event in the summer where we can meet and hug and celebrate in safety and without fear.
So, let's calculate our risks and decide what is best for our family.
