Look at the TOTAL funding – it's dropped sharply since 2014!

Here's @arc_gov_au's funding adjusted for inflation to 2019 dollars
ARC research funding has dropped ~30% since 2014!
Why? Because the Lib/Nat Government decided it should
They've gutted ~$800m over last 5 years. That's a whole year's worth of funding!

Almost all that $800m would've been spent in 
At least ~½ would've funded JOBS, building knowledge & resilience. Think COVID!
MOST would've been early-career jobs.
Instead, research is so impoverished it can't admit many new people. Nor many new ideas.

The desperate lack of @arc_gov_au funding is destroying research.
The LNP chose to undermine it. That was our prep for COVID: a debilitated innovation capacity; discarded knowledge & ideas.
And it continues!
