Look, I don't really know what else there is to say. Either you understand that we're facing a fascist movement, in which case all the rules, norms, and precedents get thrown out and nothing can be trusted to go normally, or you don't. And if you don't, why are you following me?

Trump et al seek nothing less than the overthrow of liberal democracy in america to replace it with a mafia state masquerading as a nationalist regime. They won't give up, they won't stop, even if it takes them another years to regroup. But they will exploit every weakness now.

What we saw happening in DC this weekend can be brought to any city, every city, in the country if they press the right buttons. It could very well come down to a street fight which determines whether or not we continue to live in a freeish country.

It's not over until Biden's in office and even then it's not over. He's shown no appetite to really go after the criminal apparatus animating the GOP et al and this guarantees they'll be back in 2024. And that's one of our best case scenarios on the table right now.

I beseech you to elevate the voices of the people who warned that we could reach this point, boost the people who show up on the ground to face off against our enemies, support them however you can. They are our first line of defense against the abyss.

Beating the fascist movement is only half of the equation. If the people fully mobilize, we can seize power from the gerontocracy and start getting to work fixing this country. Merely returning to the old normal is not sufficient or a worthy enough goal.

As long as there is heroism there is hope, and the people who were in DC facing off against the worst of what our enemies have to offer, most certainly exposing themselves to risk of injury or worse, are the spear's tip of what our resistance must eventually become.

We cannot plan to cower behind the husks of the institutions in which so many still mistakenly place their faith, or reassure ourselves that the impossible cannot happen when the possibility stares us right in the face, or ignore reality when it has no intention of ignoring us.

This is a historic crisis the likes of which this country has never seen before and if there is any chance of resolving it, it must start with staring at what we are up against with no filter and deciding that we reject the future that apathy and ironic detachment will bring us.
