I went live on Instagram earlier today to explain my thoughts about the Squad and the debate over how @AOC & the Squad can best press for #MedicareforAll.

Thread. /1
Of course @Instagram blocked me from saving the live session to our story—for supposed copyright violations, of all things.

Yay corporate content moderation! Who needs censorship anymore?

But I digress.... /2
It’s entirely appropriate to press our elected allies in Congress to go to the mat for #MedicareForAll.

We each sought office to promote issues, not our careers.

But as supporters, we should recognize the landscape in which we—and they—are operating. /3
By all means, encourage @AOC & others to condition their votes for Pelosi’s Speakership on a floor vote for M4A.

But the legislative tactics of AOC—or others in the Progressive Caucus—do *not* make them sellouts.

Place blame where due. Who runs the House with an iron fist? /4
Letting Pelosi‘s intransigence drive a wedge within the Left does the mistake of letting the establishment pit us against each other.

Instead of blaming our relatively few allies in Congress for their limited influence, look closer to home.

We offer a challenge. /5
