To read this and the responses is sad. Not that I expect anything out of these fools any more, of course. But its funny to see them insult an ethnobotanist with nothing but their own incredulity and ignorance to back them up. https://twitter.com/GSpellchecker/status/1338054922747736065
Does gardening culture have racism and colonialism baked into it?
Well, yea. That's not even controversial and it hasn't been for years. As a gardener I know it, because its just one of the things you pick up along the way, and its a bigger issue now less because of people caring
about racism and colonialism then because of climate change. There are movements to make gardens less about showing off one's wealth through forcing plants and techniques into places where they can't thrive without extraordinary interventions, and more about acting in ways that
are harmonious with the environment that you live in.
This has caused gardeners everywhere to take some hard looks at what they are doing, and why.
A more educated person than me has given a list of resources that people could read, here. https://twitter.com/mccormick_ted/status/1337918248562647040?s=20
