@ToddSmithPC promised to be “open and transparent” when he took over the autism file from the disgraced former MCCSS Minister @MacLeodLisa last year.

He has failed.

Here’s a list of just some of the important information @ChildrenON DOESN’T share.

A thread.

The true core of the OAP is supposed to be evidence-based clinical services.

@MacLeodLisa put this out of reach for kids with moderate-severe needs with the failed Childhood Budget concept.

@ToddSmithPC has given no indication when core clinical services will be available.

2/9
Families have been forced to settle for a subsidy program that often doesn’t come close to funding their child’s needs.

The funding model has caused therapy capacity in this province to wither away due to so much uncertainty on the future of the program.

3/9
@ChildrenON has also been very cryptic on how many kids are still in the old version of the program.

It was over 10,000 when @ToddSmithPC first took over, and now somewhere in the 6,000 range, likely less.

Fewer and fewer kids are receiving help based on their needs.

4/9
The old program was far from perfect, but funding for therapy was at least based on clinical evaluation, and not randomly assigned based on age.

@MacLeodLisa didn’t care about meeting needs.
@ToddSmithPC has shown little urgency in changing course.

5/9
@ChildrenON also fails to share how many children have actually received funding cheques, and chooses instead to share how many kids have been *invited*

This is meaningless.

They can claim the cheque is in the mail, but how much of the budget has actually been spent?

6/9
It’s been clear for a while that @ChildrenON will underspend again on the program, despite @ToddSmithPC @JillDunlop1 claiming otherwise.

How do they think they’ll accomplish that without a program?

I’ve done the math. It’s not possible.

7/9
This list is just the tip of the iceberg.

@ToddSmithPC has been hiding away for most of his tenure as Minister.

He pops up every once in a while to deliver bad news, then disappears again.

That’s not leadership.

8/9
So no, @ChildrenON you haven’t been “committed to sharing information” on the eventual needs-based autism program.

Let us know when core services will be available.

That should be your top priority right now.
