Sooner or later you'll figure out that leaks about someone being "in consideration" for some government job always turn out to be false. It's how news outlets categorize leaks they receive that they know are illegitimate, but they want to milk for ratings anyway.
Of the dozens of leaks about people being "in consideration" for Biden jobs, they've ALL turned out to be false. What, do you think Biden is just changing his mind every few minutes on every job? Of course not. These are phony leaks to begin with obviously not coming from Biden.
Such leaks generally come from someone who's not in consideration but is hoping to work their way into consideration. They have an ally leak their name to the media, in the hope that the resulting media attention becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
Does this tactic ever work? Apparently it never works on Biden, considering he hasn't appointed a single person who tried to leak their own name into contention.
Why does the media run with leaks that it knows are phony? Ratings and page views. The media doesn't exist for any other reason. The media knows it won't pay a penalty, because when someone else is named to that job, the public will just assume Biden changed his mind in the end.
So is there any harm to this? Well, yes. It tricks the public into thinking that Biden almost appointed some unfit people. It forces activists to waste their time pushing back against certain unfit picks, who in actuality were never even in consideration.
Most importantly, the media just shouldn't lie about this shit, regardless of whether there are negative consequences or not. I don't even blame people who falsely leak their own names. I blame the media for printing it when they know it's false.
To be as clear as possible, when the media reports that someone is DEFINITELY getting a job, that leak is coming from Biden, and always proves true.

I'm referring to leaks about someone being "IN CONSIDERATION" for a job, which is code for a leak that the media knows is false.
Some will defend these false leaks as a method for people to let the administration know that they're interested in a particular job. But there are easier ways to privately convey their interest, without having the media LIE TO THE PUBLIC about it.
The kicker is that if one "in consideration" name does end up getting a job, the people who want to believe in the media will hold it up as evidence that "in consideration" leaks are in fact valid. Even though a dozen of them have already proven false this month alone.
