I'm seeing a lot of my new activist friends want to give this a chance and I'm seeing my activist friends I've known for 2+ years shake their heads at this whole situation
Yes, respect the family and their wishes
but also ask yourself if you are serving the community best there

when the feds removed our barricades at Occupy ICE PDX 2 years ago it meant we no longer had a way to protect the identities of undocumented ppl coming for their appointments. More cameras came. Proud boys threw water balloons of septic sewage & nuts & bolts. It did change things
By far the largest thing that changed was that it was far easier for the cops to sweep our camps when they wanted to. When we actually had a barricade and have people keeping watch at night it was not as easy for the police to come through and harass & arrest us. We had defenses.
Cops lie
Politicians lie
Governments lie
and if you cant hang with people who talk to cops then don't hang. I wouldn't. There will always be more community we can be helping. Smaller actions. Wider impacts.
