There's been a lot of talk about dimensions but I'd like to explain it as I see it and how the concept has been represented by ancient wisdom.
In order to understand you must believe the following is completely true (it's not), but it is as accurate as I can conceive.

Dimensional planes are accessed by the evolution of the mind/soul(psyche) of the entity. Which is essentially learning or the integration of new information. When the information is given meaning by the ways of understanding and/or wisdom that being is said to evolve.
0th dimension (pointland) - no dimensions
1st dimension (Lineland):
This plane is comprised of the single dimension of length.

2nd dimension (Flatland):
This plane is length as well as width. Again, it's incredibly hard to imagine unless you're an entity "living" in that dimension (seriously)

3rd dimension (Space):
The plane of depth. Here there are three dimensions (x-length, y-height, z-distance from observer [forward backward]). We have 3D bodies but we ourselves are not 3D beings.

4th dimension (Space-time):
This is the plane that sentient/living beings exist on. It consists of the forward movement of time. It is also the realm of "thought" but not Mind itself.

It's incredibly hard to imagine dimensions beyond this so it's mostly conjecture from here on out and requires rather out of the box metaphysical thinking. Remember this goes beyond dimensional space and refers to planes of perception.
5th dimension:
On this plane time moves backwards. It is much like the addition of the z-axis to the third dimension. Sort of like a mirror of this universe.
Probably why we never have a clear depiction of history as 4th dimensional beings.

6th dimension (multiverse?):
Here time doesn't flow linearly, it's more like jumps of interlinked events connected by emotions. this would be the plane of clairvoyance. You would be able to perceive the entire plane of possible worlds.

7th dimension:
Telekinesis. Here you would have access to all the possible worlds but with different initial conditions/laws of physics etc.

8th dimension (Arch Angel/Architect):
The plane of perception itself. It is the summation of planes 5 and up. It can be thought of as a plane of instant manifestation, where when a thing is perceived it is made manifest.

All of the entities, dimensions, and timelines co-exist in a single universe. There is nothing outside of that universe. If you an envision something outside of this universe, it is also part of this universe.
Explanation of the supernatural in terms of dimensions:
Those with extraordinary psychic powers such as "saints", "prophets', "witches" and the like are actually in a funny disposition. They can be thought of as 6th or 7th dimensional beings inhabiting a 4th dimensional body.

The most useful information to us 4D beings is that regarding the fact that we are 4D entities within a 3D body. Yet they are not separate, they make the whole of our being. The Ego/Personality is truly you as an entity, but it can evolve.
By "crossing over" (read: dying) into 5D the state of "Immortality" is achieved. The forward perception of time collides with the backwards perception of time and leaves the entity in a suspended state.
This is deep metaphysics, may be a little hard to understand. Incredibly hard to go in depth with just tweets. In summary read Plato.
