Okay I'm going to weigh in on AOC/Bernie one time, and one time only. My opinion doesn't matter, but I'm tired of all the shitty takes, so here goes 1/
Calling AOC/Bernie and the people who support them, or look to them for guidance or inspiration, counterinsurgents and shitting all over them is counterproductive and lazy and typifies American leftists and why our movement has been dead in this country since the 60's 2/
There is no class consciousness in this country, there is no revolutionary zeal, hell there's still very little knowledge of systemic racism. We're not at the point where we're going to get people to join our cause by calling everyone counterinsurgents 3/
We know Bernie and AOC aren't far enough left, that both of them are still about upholding the capitalist system. But, they're in the mainstream, they're popular, they've contributed to socialism being somewhat redeemed in this country, and they're the furthest left 4/
politicians with any kind of power here in fucking decades. How does it help liberals and soc dems come to us to shit all over these people? It doesn't. Stop being angry at people that genuinely listen to and respect these people, and start having conversations 5/
Yelling at liberals accomplishes nothing. That isn't how you get these people to join the revolution. They need to see, or be shown, how fucked up the world is, and screaming at them that they're all reactionaries and conservatives doesn't prompt that kind of thinking 6/
So yeah, AOC and Bernie are not our salvation. But, shitting on them constantly and screaming at liberals isn't either.
