With all that is going on in the world, I decided I needed to work on something uplifting ... so I’m going to paint my friend Sarah and her baby ... I started with a rough sketch #cmgsees
We are going to use a tight palette of only 2 colors: an I bleached but warm titanium and sepia.

From left to right: a medium sized brush to block things in, a brush that smoothes things out, a detail brush, a rubbery thing to remove mistakes, and 2 teeny brushes for her hair
I have now completed more of an “Oil Sketch” ...
So I screwed up. I painted dark where the baby’s hand would be in the background 😱

No big deal! I used this rubber eraser thingy to just swipe the paint away!

I make mistakes all the time but I know how to bail myself out!
I’m going to start painting in some whites now. I will use a fresh new brush so that things don’t get “muddy” where the white would have sepia mixed in.

I store my sepia colored brushes in oil in this Art Deco shot glass

I doesn’t have to be Art Deco or a shot glass 🤣🤣🤣
The Art Deco shot glass lives inside this Art Deco inkwell so I doesn’t tip over ...
Notice how much warmer this white paint is compared with the board ...
I have a lot of the dark darks and a lot of the light lights done, not let’s put in some of the grey midtones ...
