I do not understand how so many people have come to the conclusion that not prosecuting someone who may have a rap sheet a mile long is something worth doing. The excuse that it would "heal the partisan divide" is utter horseshit and anyone who suggests it should be laughed at.
People want to deport immigrants for existing here without the right sort of paperwork because they fled for their lives, but SOMEHOW some people seem to think it's okay to not punish the most powerful person in the world for breaking all sorts of laws? Get out of here with that.
"Justice" in this country is a joke, and if we do not at least THOROUGHLY investigate Trump when all of this is over no one will ever be able to say that justice is blind in this country ever again.
Our Overton Window is so skewed to the right and to authoritarianism that we are perfectly fine condemning immigrants to death but we struggle with the idea of inconveniencing an old rich man just because it might hurt the feelings of other old rich men.
It's weird being okay with sending immigrants to die because they didn't come here "the right way" & also thinking that prosecuting a former president might be something we shouldn't do because it might hurt feelings. Immigrants and their families & friends have feelings too.
"Justice is blind" has only ever applied to poor people and people of color in this country. It's time that we blind justice when it comes to the rich, the powerful, and the politically connected, yes, even the President.
