This is probably the most interesting animation I have done: a 70 seconds play from Barcelona vs Juventus. Lots of stuff to unpack here, so first, the full 28 pass sequence ending in a shot by Pjanic:
Lots of safe passing from Barcelona. Worst example: Alba misses Griezmann's great run and passes backwards.
A few passes later, another Griezmann run missed by Alba.
You may have noticed: Trincão has lots of space on the right, why don't they pass to him? Maybe it would be hard pass for left-footed Alba, but what's the excuse for De Jong here?
Barcelona finally gets to the final third with a carry by Frenkie De Jong, ending with a pass to Dest.
But even then, a missed run by Trincão. Great coverage from Alex Sandro, though...
Now Juve is unbalanced, and Barcelona gets the ball to Alba on the left:
Final mistake: the shot. Dest and Trincão had a lot of space on the right, yet Pjanic atempts a low xG shot...
Defense need another thread, but for now, this: https://twitter.com/eastdeflection/status/1338192132000112641
Glad you are enjoying this one as much as me. Hopefully there will be more like this to come 😉
