Surely if you report on COVID you must be able to read map of COVID data for soundness. How can you tell if what you are reporting on is true if you can't read a data map? 2/ @apoorva_nyc there are 3 problems with @NYTimes reporting on COVID data. 1/ The maps cited do not appear to control for multiple tests being counted as multiple cases. 2/They use unverifiable volunteers uploading data, in one case via competitive intel company. 3/There is no
3/ way that I know of, to harmonize 1000s of separate reports from 1000s of clinics, hospitals into a single API in real time, so the map can't be both accurate and technically feasible. 4/ conflicts of interest as they are funded by tech companies that profit from "lockdown.
