Here is some TikTok drama for you. We’ll call this person S because while she is putting her business out there, I don’t want to be complicit in making it easier to google if she ever realizes she wants to stop Being Very Online.
S has created a mass following she calls a community or safe space in “Narcissistic In-Law TikTok”. This is a community on TikTok dedicated to people (usually women) sharing stories about their narcissistic in-laws (usually the mother-in-law).
If you’re familiar with the “JustNoMIL” subreddit, you’ll know that the reason so many people can relate to these stories is because...they’re not dealing with narcissists. Some are just dealing with plain old assholes. Many of the complainers are themselves spoiled and selfish.
I’m not gonna pass judgment of diagnosis on either S or her in-laws. As someone who is absolutely mentally ill, I will pass judgment and say all parties involved here are making decisions that are destructive and dramatic and unhelpful at every turn.
S has made HUNDREDS of TikToks about her MIL. When the MIL found out, she eventually contacted S’s neuroscience PhD program to allegedly try and get her kicked out for harassment and not upholding some sort of school standard.
S did not stop making TikToks, even with her school’s program director now aware of everything. In fact, it seemed she started to post more. And many of them now were set to TikTok dances.
S is “no contact” with her in-laws, which is a method of self-preservation many people in the Narcisstic In-Law community talks about a lot. You go completely no contact. Except S frequently replies to troll comments she believes are her in-laws. (Some of them def appear to be.)
S’s MIL recently made her own TikTok account! It is Extremely Run By A Middle-Aged Woman Who Doesn’t Really Use Apps. Nearly all her vids are just text on a picture with the audio on, recording the sounds of the empty rooms and yard she’s making them in.
S has not been handling this well! She has made so many videos about it. S’s MIL has not been handling the comments from S’s fans well! She shut off comments on her videos. And also threatened S with legal action.
During all of this, ANOTHER member of the Narc In Law TikTok community made some videos insinuating S was a liar. She deleted them before I saw them, unfortunately. I did catch her make these vids about the aftermath after S called her out:
These are the vids S made calling out the other person. So now we have S versus S’s In-law, S versus the other “toxic-in-law” creator, and apparently the other creator follows S’s in-las, so maybe an alliance is building? Like this is Survivor?
That’s all I have right now because the only thing left are my thoughts and opinions and they’re not the most kind! I’ll update this thread as the drama continues though. If you’re offering up drama, I’m gonna Robin Hood it to others. That’s my right.
